When will enough be enough?

I was going to stop this, because I felt as if it was taking me away from my son.  However, I cannot stop.

HALF A MILLION CHILDREN GO MISSING EACH YEAR IN AMERICA, WITH ONLY LESS THAN HALF OF THOSE BEING A CASE OF NON-CUSTODIAL PARENTAL ABDUCTIONS.  SO WHERE ARE THESE KIDS GOING?????????????

Years ago I used to check Young, Black and Missing everyday.  There would be elementary school students who disappeared off the school bus, 9 year old, within an hour of me, YET NOTHING ON THE NEWS.  NOTHING.

Back then, my oldest son was 12, and I told him, that if he were to be kidnapped on the way to school, HE'D BE DEEMED AN ENDANGERED RUNAWAY!!!!!!!!!  THAT WOULD MEAN, NO ONE WOULD LOOK FOR HIM.  NO ONE, BUT ME.

WHEN IS ENOUGH GOING TO BE ENOUGH?  501 TEENAGERS HAVE GONE MISSING IN WASHINGTON, DC SINCE JAN 1!!!!!!!!!!!!  ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME.

I'VE BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK, AND I NEVER MET A COP WHO DIDN'T BACK ME 110%.  LOOK AT LEAP.CC THEY TOO WANT THE WAR ON DRUGS TO BE CHANGED TO THE WAR AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKERS AND PEDOPHILES.

Totally Off Base

....but, I asked my son (the girls are away) to watch We Need To Talk About Kevin with me last night (OnDemand = one of our few luxury's) because we both LOVE anything with John C. Reilly.  Well, I enjoyed the film, immensely,  but I think it upset him a bit, because the first thing he said to me after, Good Morning today was, "Ma...that was a really weird movie we watched last night."

I should add, the last time this happened with any of the kids, it was after the older two and I watched La Haine together.  They were bitching about how they didn't want to watch a film with me, blah, blah blah, but as soon as the film began, and the first beat from Bob Marley's Burnin' and Lootin' came on, they were silent until the end, and then some -as we just all remained staring at the screen.  And that time, the next morning, my oldest (whom if you knew her you'd understand just how much of a shocker this comment was, coming from her), says, without even a good morning or anything, "That scratching from the film last night was amazing..."  The thing is/was....the scratch scene (and the whole flick) was amazing.

Anyway, We Need to Talk About Kevin doesn't top La Haine for me (as that's on of my top five all time fav's),  but it certainly opened my son and I up to a lot of discussion, which is always good.  With topics like, how responsible should a parent feel about their children's actions, how when you're 15, you think you know it all, something even more painful for naturally bright kids, and so on and so forth.  I guess what I am saying is, it was stimulating to watch.  And I'm glad I did watch it with him (now he's watching it again with his squeeze.....I guess he liked it).
